Having spent over 30 years in the IT Sector (Financial Services), I decided to jack it all in and walked away from that career in June 2017. At the tender age of 51, it was then for me to decide which direction I wanted to take.
Being a keen home-brewer for many years, and having built my own 25 litre micro-brewery in my garage, I learnt to create my own recipes and develop my own styles. Naturally, along the way, mistakes were made (sometimes resulting in beer that was just plain nasty!). But I never lost patience, and continued to plug away, learning the craft. So, it wasn’t a difficult decision in the end to take it to the next level.
It was in October 2017 that I discovered the unit where the brewery is being housed. A lot of work has been done to prepare the unit (some of which can be seen in the blog page) - and thus Spencer’s Brewery is born.
After just over a year of trading, I have decided that this venture is not for me, and the brewery is closing down. I have enjoyed plenty of aspects of this episode, but for me this journey is almost over, as I look to sell the equipment and move out of the premises.
A big thank you to those customers who have been regular visitors to the brewery shop, and especially to The Seal in Selsey High Street for all their support in stocking my beer and helping to get it promoted.
